This is the first 2 trillion cubic meters of shale gas resources discovered by Sinopec after the Fuling shale gas field, and will contribute to the protection of my country's energy security.

It is understood that the new pageWell 1, with a depth of 5756 meters, is a deep shale gas risk exploration well deployed by Sinopec Exploration Company in Xinchang Structure, Qijiang District, Chongqing. The Xinchang structure geologically belongs to the complex tectonic zone of the southeastern Sichuan basin margin, and previous studies have shown that the tectonic zone has a large favorable area and large resources for ultra-deep shale gas.

Generally speaking, shale gas with a depth of more than 3500 meters is defined as deep shale gas. Deep shale gas passes through many formations, and there are many world-class problems such as large shale burial depth and complex in-situ stress. It has high technical requirements and is difficult to explore and develop.
